Padraic Colum (1881–1972) was a central figure of the Irish Literary Revival, poet, playwright and friend of Joyce, who became a celebrated reteller of myth and legend for young readers. The King of Ireland’s Son, and his volumes of Greek, Norse and Hawaiian myth, are graceful, lasting works of the fairy-tale and mythic tradition.
