Jean Ingelow (1820–1897) was a popular Victorian poet whose children’s fantasy Mopsa the Fairy (1869), a dream-journey into a strange fairyland, is admired as one of the more inventive fairy-tales of its age, sometimes compared to the Alice books. A gentle, distinctive voice of Victorian imaginative writing.
