David Cory (1872–1966) wrote more than fifty children’s books and, from 1915, a daily ‘Jack Rabbit’ bedtime story syndicated in newspapers for forty years. His gentle animal fantasies, the ‘Little Jack Rabbit’, ‘Billy Bunny’ and ‘Puss-in-Boots, Jr.’ series, were a fixture of American childhood in the early twentieth century.
