Beatrix Potter

Beatrix Potter (1866–1943) created The Tale of Peter Rabbit and a whole world of anthropomorphic animal characters in her exquisitely illustrated ‘little books’, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, Tom Kitten. A gifted naturalist and, later, sheep farmer and conservationist, she shaped the modern illustrated children’s book and its gentle animal fantasy.
