Mrs. Molesworth (1839–1921), Mary Louisa Molesworth, was one of the most popular Victorian writers of children’s fiction, whose fantasies The Cuckoo Clock and The Tapestry Room, with their magical journeys and enchanted objects, are gentle classics of the nursery fantastic. She also wrote well-crafted ghost stories. A defining voice of Victorian children’s imaginative literature.
