Will N. Harben (1858–1919) was known in his day for realistic novels of Georgia mountain life, but he also wrote early speculative fiction, ‘In the Year Ten Thousand’ imagines a far-future utopia of scientific enlightenment, and ‘The Land of the Changing Sun’ is a lost-world scientific romance. A minor but genuine American contributor to the genre’s formative years.
