Paul Féval (1816–1887) was a hugely popular French serialist (Le Bossu) who was also a significant early writer of vampire fiction, Le Chevalier Ténèbre, La Vampire and the wild Vampire City, helping shape the vampire in French popular literature decades before Dracula. A key, colourful figure in the pulp fantastic.
