The colour out of space by H. P. Lovecraft
A meteorite falls on a lonely farm west of Arkham, and from it seeps a strange, indescribable colour that blights the crops, sickens the family, and drains the very life from the land.
H. P. Lovecraft's 1927 story was his own personal favorite. Eerie, restrained, profoundly unsettling. Read it for one of the finest of all weird tales, a slow, creeping cosmic horror utterly unlike any monster, an alien contamination beyond human comprehension, told with a bleak beauty that Lovecraft never surpassed.
